Release date
After two delays, Rockstar has confirmed GTA VI for 19 November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game had already slipped once, from an original 2025 window to 26 May 2026, and was delayed again in November 2025 — Rockstar cited the need for more polish. Launch price is $79.99.
The setting
GTA VI is set in Leonida, a fictional Florida-inspired state, with Vice City — its take on Miami — as the largest city. It's the series' first return to Vice City since Vice City Stories (2006). The world satirises 2020s American culture: social media, influencers, police body cameras, and even "Florida Man" memes.
Protagonists
The protagonist duo is Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval — the first time the mainline series has had a non-optional female protagonist. After a bank heist goes wrong, the pair get pulled into a state-wide conspiracy, in a register that recalls Bonnie and Clyde.
Physical edition and preorders
The physical version, in stores from 12 November (a week before launch, for pre-loading), ships with only a download code — there's no disc with the actual game on it. All preorders include the Vintage Vice City Pack, with items inspired by the original Vice City (2002) and Tommy Vercetti. The Ultimate Edition adds extra clothing, hairstyles, tattoos, vehicles and missions.
The budget
Analysts and press rumours speculate a budget between $1–2 billion, which would make GTA VI the most expensive game ever made — but Rockstar has never confirmed that figure officially. Treat it as an estimate, not a fact.
We'll update this article as Rockstar releases more information before launch.
