Lucia Caminos
Lucia is the mainline GTA series' first non-optional female protagonist. She arrives in Leonida from Liberty City and is introduced, in the first trailer, leaving Leonida Penitentiary — imprisoned after fighting for her own family. It's an unusual starting point for the series: the protagonist already begins the story having paid a price.
Jason Duval
Jason is a former U.S. Army soldier. After his service, he went to work for local drug runners in the Leonida Keys. He's introduced as Lucia's partner — and romantic pair — in a dynamic Rockstar itself has publicly compared to Bonnie and Clyde.
The duo
Together, the two survive a bank heist gone wrong and end up caught in a conspiracy spanning the entire state of Leonida. That's the narrative spine of the game, according to Rockstar's own official material.
Confirmed supporting cast
The website update that accompanied the second trailer (May 2025) added descriptions for six more characters:
- Cal Hampton — Jason's paranoid friend.
- Boobie Ike — runs a business empire in Vice City.
- Dre'Quan Priest — co-owns the record label Only Raw Records with Boobie.
- Bae-Luxe and Roxy — musical duo "Real Dimez", signed to Only Raw.
- Raul Bautista — a seasoned bank robber.
- Brian Heder — a longtime drug runner in the Keys, and Jason's landlord.
