Every few days, new supposed "announcements," leaked trailers, bonus lists and "prices" for GTA VI appear online. Most of them don't come from Rockstar. This guide separates what Rockstar itself has confirmed from what is pure rumor, and shows how to recognize the official source — and how to avoid scams in the hype. What is confirmed (and comes from Rockstar)

  • Launch: November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Announced by Rockstar itself.
  • Protagonists: Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, the confirmed lead pair.
  • The world: the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by the American South — the kind of setting Rockstar has shown in its trailers.
  • The two trailers and the official cover art: already published by Rockstar — not via a leak.
  • The next official window for news: the "Extended Look" premieres on August 27 (first on Netflix, then on Rockstar's YouTube channel and official site), as Rockstar announced. It's the best place to follow what's next, without relying on a leak.

What is still just rumor (and shouldn't be treated as fact)

  • The plot, missions, factions and the "ending" have not been confirmed in detail. None of it should be read as certain.
  • Gameplay and map leaks circulate frequently and are routinely refuted or pulled by Rockstar. A "leaked" video is not an official announcement — even if it looks convincing.
  • "Exclusive bonuses," editions, "prices" and "pre-downloads" you see before Rockstar confirms them are almost always speculation or a scam.

How to tell if it's official (and avoid scams)

  1. Only the Rockstar site counts. Check any news on rockstargames.com/newswire or rockstargames.com. If it isn't there, it isn't official.
  2. Buy only from authorized retailers. Pre-order should be done only through official retailers or Rockstar's channel — never "key resellers," "early access," or sites promising the game before launch.
  3. Be wary of urgency. "Last units," "today only," and links asking for immediate payment are classic scam signs.
  4. Beware the hype "numbers." "Millions of pre-orders," "biggest ever," and the like are marketing, not confirmed facts.
  5. Don't share supposed leaks as if they were true. A leak, even a real one, doesn't replace Rockstar's announcement.
